Veggies For All Gleaning Program

The Veggies For All gleaning program harvests ripe crops from farms and delivers them to food pantries and soup kitchens, Give & Take sites, and various other organizations in our communities. Our gleaning efforts rely on volunteers who perform in-field harvests at our partnering farms. Sign up here to volunteer!

Veggies For All was founded in Unity in 2007. It conducts gleans locally, as well as in neighboring communities. As a program of Waldo County Bounty, it distributes gleaned food countywide.

We deeply appreciate the relationships we have built with local farmers. If you are a food business in or near Waldo County with quality surplus food and would like to partner with our gleaning program, please email our Veggies For All coordinator at vfagleaning@gmail.com.

“The Veggies For All team never says no when I call up and say, ‘I have 400 pounds of cucumbers.’ It’s incredible to have that as a resource, because we really are producing 400 pounds of cukes every other day at times.”

- Sophia Lindsay, Community Harvest and Requests Coordinator at Johnny’s Selected Seeds

“Last week, I filled the Frankfort Give & Take stand with butternut squash, pumpkins, potatoes, turnips, beets, carrots, and other Thanksgiving vegetables that we’d gleaned at Johnny’s Selected Seeds’ Research Farm. After dark, I went to check on it just in case it got too cold—I didn’t want anything to freeze!—and I was amazed to find only a few things left. Our area has so appreciated all that this program has done!”
